I first began inserting Peripheral Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) with the unassisted Modified Seldinger technique in 1994. New advances in vascular access have allowed for a change in the insertion method to a safer technique using the Ultrasound-Guided Tip Location System. This allows for the delivery of high-quality vascular access with a "Gold-Standard, guideline-directed" approach. During my career, I have successfully inserted several thousand vascular access devices with "zero" attributed central line blood stream infection (CLABSI), nor other untoward complications. I believe in delivering compassionate care to all. The patient's experience is of utmost concern. I pride myself in the delicate delivery of an efficient, painless, procedure. After the procedure, I'm thrilled when the patient's experience yields the sentiment "Wow-that was quick and painless"!
I am a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (A-GPCNP-BC) specializing in Vascular Access with Vascular Access Board-Certification (VA-BC). I am certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), as well as Basic Life Support (BLS). My tenure as a registered nurse began in 1991- with the last 10 years as a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. I have obtained a vast array of experiences in many high acuity areas ranging from vascular access to the Intensive Care Unit.
